Kirk and Spock Race to Save the Planet
Political Satire/ Motion Picture Satire
By Simon F.

The Enterprise Crew has returned to the 21st Century in an attempt to bring two dogs back to the 23rd Century to speak with the alien life force that is threatening to destroy the Earth.  It has been determined that the only species intelligent enough to speak with the alien life form is the now extinct canine life form.

Scene 1 Kirk and Spock wander around 21st Century San Francisco in search of two dogs.

Kirk: Spock, have we come too late?  Starting with SB 250, Dean Flores has worked to wipe out virtually all dogs from the planet. If we can't find two live dogs to repopulate the species, Earth will be destroyed.

Spock:  It is illogical to drive a species to extinction.  Clearly, Dean Florez was not a Vulcan.

A bus goes by with a banner, "See George and Gracie, the two last dogs on Earth, at the dog show in Sausilito."

Kirk:  I think we will find what we are looking for in Sausilito.  But we must hurry and reach the dogs before Flores gets there.

Scene 2  Kirk and Spock search through bombed out remains of a building.  Kirk elicits information from a passerby.

Kirk:  What happened?

Passerby: ALF found out about the show and bombed the place.

Kirk:  We're too late,  If we had just arrived a little sooner.  And now the dogs have been blown up, liberated from their lives, along with our future.

Passerby:  The dogs escaped the explosion.

Spock:  Then it is not too late.  Where are they?

Passerby:  They were caught by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.  PETA has the highest dog killing rate of all organizations.  They are sure to be presented with an award for this latest success..

Spock:  If I recall correctly, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals was declared a terrorist organization in the early 21st Century for its unethical treatment of animals.

Kirk:   That is it.  Earth, as we know it, is doomed.   There's nothing to return to.  Perhaps, we should stay here and open a travel company

Spock:  There may still be a chance to save Earth's future.  We just need to go a little further back in time.

Scene 3  Kirk, Spock, a woman and two collies are standing in Golden Gate Park on a bright, sunny day with flowers blooming and children playing nearby.

Kirk:  Brilliant plan, Spock.  You saved the planet.

Woman:  Now, why was it you said I needed to come to the future?

Spock:  In short, Mrs. Florez, the planet would not have survived if you had stayed in the past.

Mrs. Florez:  This is a beautiful place.  It would a great place to have children.

Kirk:  You don't want to do that.  How about a career in Star Fleet?  We'll all live a lot longer.

The End
